Community Based Organization
To achieve Sustainable Community Development, the participation of community members in all project cycle implementation and management processes is essential. ROPES also believes that success can be happened by facilitating collective action by many stakeholders at the community level.
It is only possible to engage some members in the development decision-making process. So, it is crucial to create a structure or institution at the community level where members from different categories are represented regarding location, groups, and inclusion of people in difficult circumstances.
ROPES has established community-based institutions for different stakeholders, including children, such as Village Development Committee, WASH Committee, Child Protection Committee, Children and Youth Groups, Self-Help Groups, Women Federation, etc. Further, these institutions are strengthening by enhancing their knowledge and skills with positive social norms and values towards human growth and development and promoting active citizenship.
People in the area are now becoming more informed about the services, policies, legislation, and schemes offered by the government, which enables them to assert their rights and access these services. In addition, they are now equipped to influence service providers and policymakers to improve the quality of services and expand access to as many people as possible. This is also promoting information literacy among the population.
Our interventions
Mobilizing community members to make them realize the importance of having a community-based structure and the benefit of collective action
Formation of community based-structures for different stakeholders and with a different thematic focus
Capacity building of these structures to become empowered and lead towards individual and community development
Creating environment inter-face dialogue between these groups
Linkage with the mainstream systems of a concerned government department and financial institutions
Community Based Organizations
The community leaders, including women, youth boys and girls, children, local leaders, government officials, and teachers, were identified by ROPES in 2016. They formed the Village Development Committee (VDC) and Youth club to create a better environment for their community. The members of the committee received training on important topics such as child rights, the importance of education, life skills education, career guidance, and the right to education. As a result, the community is now better equipped to provide a safe and supportive environment for its members.
