ROPES has been actively working towards implementing multifaceted development interventions in 42 villages of Bangarupalyam Mandal, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. Their primary focus has been on providing quality education to children, but they faced a significant challenge in the form of school dropouts due to illiteracy among the older generation of Tribal and Dalit communities. To address this issue, ROPES has implemented a Child-centered Community Development Program that aims to mainstream and re-enrol school dropouts.

In the academic year 2021-22, ROPES has successfully re-enrolled 60 children through their school enrollment drive. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization had to pivot their approach and design and implement E-learning facilities for children from Grade 5 to Grade in the 32 operational villages, with the help of Children Believe.

E-learning classes are conducted using laptops, and CLC volunteers work alongside the Educational Department/Local Govt. school teachers in planning grade/subject-wise timetables for delivering subjects. Both Government teachers and CLC teachers jointly help children with virtual learning. The DIKSHA app, which is a Government-approved learning platform, is used by teachers, students, and parents. It consists of all subjects, class-wise, offering engaging learning materials relevant to the prescribed school curriculum.

ROPES has ensured that safety norms such as social distancing, wearing masks, and use of hand sanitizers are followed while conducting classes. Regular follow-ups through phone calls and video calls are done to monitor if children follow social distancing, wear masks, and maintain discipline while using laptops/online classes to ensure not to contract coronavirus.

The Digital Learning Platform designed and implemented by ROPES has been availed by 1,106 school-going children (518 boys and 588 girls) and has immensely benefited children during the COVID-19 pandemic situation for academic engagement. ROPES has shown remarkable dedication towards ensuring that children receive quality education despite the challenging circumstances.
