The Andhra Pradesh Police Department has developed a mobile application called Disha which serves as a distress signal for women and girls in need. Once the user shakes her mobile phone, an alert is sent to the Disha control room.
To promote awareness of this important safety tool, ROPES has initiated a campaign aimed at the public, with a special focus on women. The senior judge has taken the lead by releasing posters and banners, and has instructed all advocates and junior judges to spread the message regarding COVID-19 prevention. A grand total of 32 banners have been printed and placed strategically throughout various locations in order to maximize community outreach and awareness of the Disha mobile App, as well as stress the importance of taking precautionary measures against COVID-19.
Additionally, 15,000 pamphlets have been printed and distributed, which have benefited at least 37,000 individuals, particularly women and young girls. These pamphlets serve as a valuable resource and provide essential information about the Disha App and its many benefits. The campaign has proven to be a resounding success thus far, as individuals across the community have become increasingly aware of the importance of utilizing the Disha mobile App for their safety and well-being.
