School Enrollment Drive
ROPES has established a Child-centered Community Development Programme that focuses on school enrollment drives to re-enroll school dropouts and integrate them back into mainstream education.
In partnership with Children Believe, ROPES has implemented multi-faceted development interventions in 42 villages located in Bangarupalyam Mandal of Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. One of the primary objectives of ROPES is to provide quality education to children. However, the older generation of the Tribal and Dalit communities in the area are largely illiterate, and thus cannot fully appreciate the value of education for future generations, which results in high rates of school dropouts. To address this issue, ROPES has established a Child-Centered Community Development Programme that focuses on school enrollment drives to re-enroll school dropouts and integrate them back into mainstream education. In the 2021-22 academic year, the school enrollment drive has been successful in re-enrolling a total of 60 children (31 boys and 29 girls) in the area, which has been highly appreciated by school teachers and the Block/Mandal Education Department.
The school enrollment campaign was conducted in collaboration with the Education department, CBO members, Village Volunteers, SHG members, Youth, and Children in 42 target villages. Through home visits and counselling for dropout children's families, the community was educated on the importance of education and the Right to Education (RTE) Act, ensuring that all children between the ages of 6-14 were admitted to schools. The school enrollment drive covered approximately 40,000 target community members and children. Furthermore, ROPES also organized an end child marriage campaign in 10 Dalit and Tribal villages where child marriages were prevalent.
